E2: Refuge, Not Shield

I’ve been caught up in creating content about Buddhist practice while neglecting the practice itself. This episode explores the difference between using teachings as a refuge (where you actually dwell) versus a shield (something to hide behind), and why returning to the basics—breath, body, presence—might be the most honest path forward.

The Charlatan

His eyes dart about
quick cuts between lies and likes
he seeks followers

He knows not the Way
but claims his enlightenment
and they follow him

The charlatan tells
truth knotted in his own pain
he longs to be free

Others, confident
seeing pain behind his mask
know the subtle truths

The Way: internal
the master: oneself alone
following no one

Revering silence
unraveling samsara
they embody peace
